Clementine Card

Today I have a card made by a team member. Judy does fabulous work on cards. I am always very happy to receive one of her cards.

The Clementine Paper Pack (X7156B) is filled with pretty colors. Champagne, Saddle, Cashmere, and Sorbet. Indian Corn Blue doesn't come in the paper pack, but it does match very well.

Judy used the new Artiste Cricut Cartridge Collection (z1686) is used to cut the image. This collection is a must have for any paper crafter.

So many images and easy to use.

Tomorrow, I will highlight another Clementine card.

Avonlea Card

Card number 2! I made another quick card using the new Avonlea paper pack (x7155B).

Very pretty paper pack. Great colors and lovely pattern.  I also used the Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon (Z1732) which I dyed with twilight ink. In the corner is a Filigree charm (Z1269).

More exciting new products tomorrow!

August Stamp of the Month

The new Idea Book comes out in just a couple of days. I am very excited. There are so many wonderful new products-- including a brand new Cricut cartridge!! To celebrate the new products, I am going to try to post a new card every day for the next week. Now we can see how well I can follow through on this.

First card features the August stamp of the month:

This is a really quick card to put together. The blue paper and ink is pacifica. The yellow is from the Pemberley Paper Pack. Those products are continued from the last Idea Book to this one. The "thank you" sentiment is in the Casual Expressions stamp set (D1525). This set is a perfect set of sentiments, most of which match up with the Artiste Cricut Cartridge. The pattern is from the August stamp of the month: Baroque Borders. The stamp of the month is only available for that month then it is gone. The set is just $5 with a $50 order or $17.95 on its own.

The Casual Expressions stamp set, Artiste Cricut Collection, and the Baroque Borders stamp set will be available for purchase on Wednesday, August 1.

Superhero Paper Pack

The Superhero Paper Pack (X7152B) is a fun paper pack. This paper pack also has such a lovely blue page which I want to use over and over again.

It is perfect for kids pages, vacation pages, and of course 4th of July.

The above art work was done by Heather Stewart and posted on her blog at http://scraptastics1.blogspot.com/.  I was excited when I ran across her blog. I just love this layout and am planning on scrap lifting it.

Enjoy!

Scrapbooking and Photography as an Art Form

Rickey and I volunteered at the County Fair this year. Our assignment was the Fine Arts show-- watching the art work and keeping the area clean. Most of the time during our couple of days at the fair, we talked and looked at the art work. Rickey and I started thinking about our own art and if we should display it.

Rickey is a budding photographer. While he was backpacking the Grand Canyon with his Boy Scout Troop, he took some lovely photos. I am very proud of my boy.

Rickey is planning on taking a photography class and was wondering if he should maybe next year entering one of his favorite pictures in the photography contest at the fair.

I started to wonder about my art work. I take a lot of pictures (and I do mean A LOT of pictures). I don't think I am taking any award winning pictures these days. But maybe I should try. Rickey and I can do this together as a mother son project. When the kids were really little, I enjoyed taking photography classes and working with film. I even took a class on developing black and white film. I don't use my film camera anymore. Now, I need to learn to use my digital camera and maybe some photo software.

Can my scrapbook pages also be considered art? I think so. Most aren't award winning quality. I do a lot of quick pages. I believe in getting it done and not spend hours on a page. But sometimes I create some pages that is very fancy. Can I create a page worthy enough to enter in an art contest? I think I will try. A collage piece would be right in line with some of the pieces I saw at the fair. It would also be a lot of fun to do.

So, Rickey and I have made our plan. We will play with the camera more and learn to use all the settings on the camera. We will create wonderful pieces of art, worthy of viewing by the public. We will enter a piece in the 2013 County Fair.
